The other day, I got a gift called Tiger Balm. It brought back memories of using 호랑이연고 when I was little. Back then, it was like a magic ointment(연고) that we used for just about everything.
Tiger Balm is a cool ointment that helps you feel better when you're sore or hurting. It has a strong smell and feels warm on your skin, kind of like a cozy blanket!
Where It All Began:
- A long, long time ago in the 1870s, a smart guy named Aw Chu Kin in China created Tiger Balm. Later, his two sons made it super famous all around the world.
- Even though it’s called Tiger Balm, don’t worry—it doesn’t have any tigers in it! The name was picked because tigers are strong and powerful.
The Company Behind the Magic:
- Tiger Balm is made by a company called Haw Par Corporation in Singapore. They’ve been making this super ointment for a really long time, and now it’s famous all over the world!
- These days, they even make different types of Tiger Balm, so there’s something for everyone.
What’s Inside?
- Menthol: This makes your skin feel cool and helps take away the pain.
- Camphor: This warms you up and helps your body feel better.
- Cajuput Oil and Clove Oil: These help relax your muscles and make you feel less stiff.
- Peppermint Oil and Eucalyptus Oil: They smell nice and help you feel even better.
How People Use It:
- For Aches and Pains: People rub it on when their muscles or joints hurt, like after playing sports or if they have a headache.
- For Colds: Sometimes, people put it on their chest to help with stuffy noses.
- For Bug Bites: If a mosquito bites you, Tiger Balm can help stop the itching.
Different Kinds of Tiger Balm:
- Tiger Balm Red: This one is super warm and great for sore muscles.
- Tiger Balm White: This one is cooler and helps with headaches and stuffy noses.
- Tiger Balm Ultra: This is the strong one, with extra menthol power!
- Neck & Shoulder Rub: Perfect for when your neck or shoulders feel tight.
- Plasters: These are like stickers with Tiger Balm on them, and you can stick them on the sore spot for long-lasting relief.
How to Use It:
- Just take a little bit and rub it where it hurts. But be careful! Don’t get it in your eyes, mouth, or on any cuts. And always wash your hands afterward.
Things to Watch Out For:
- Don’t use it on babies or little kids under two years old.
- Some people might find it a bit strong, so if your skin is sensitive, try just a tiny bit first.
- If you’re not sure, ask an adult to help!
Where to Find It:
- You can find Tiger Balm almost anywhere—pharmacies, stores, or online. It’s in lots of houses because it helps with so many little aches and pains!
